This unit is a quality item. It features a high-quality electro-chemical sensor. It records low-level carbon monoxide, down to 10ppm. This gives an extra measure of safety and assurance that your home is free from low level CO contamination that could cause chronic health issues.
It's an expensive unit, but it's much superior to the "standard" CO alarms you get at big box stores. Overall this unit is a great value for the features and level of protection you get.
The LCD readout shows the peak concentration of carbon-monoxide since the last time you reset it, which is a nice tough, in case you want to know if there is something in your house that is generating enough CO to give you occasional headaches, but not enough necessarily to trigger an alarm. I'm an engineer so I like having measurements.
We have a gas stove, and I had put an oven liner in it to catch drips, but it was big enough to cover some of the holes on the bottom. This apparently is sufficient to cause a carbon monoxide problem, according to our oven repairman. So I cut the liner down to a smaller size, and bought this unit to put in the kitchen just to verify that the fix was working all the time.
