Thanks to its battery backup, this alarm keeps scanning your house for CO levels in a power outage. .About Carbon Monoxide: The Silent KillerThe leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in North America, carbon monoxide (CO) is often referred to as the silent killer because it's odorless, tasteless, and invisible. Carbon monoxide poisoning can come about via a number of sources, including everyday items and appliances in your home or office. And because symptoms of CO poisoning mimic the flu or other common illnesses, CO poisoning can often go undiagnosed.

When placed on every level of your home, alarms like the Nighthawk 900-0235 can help protect everyone in the house from CO exposure by giving an unmistakable audible signal when CO levels have reached an unhealthy point.

Loud Alerts Signal Elevated Levels and Low Battery LifeThe Nighthawk 900-0235 immediately sounds a loud warning signal if CO has reached an elevated, unsafe level in your home, giving you plenty of time to leave the premises. You'll also hear a clearly audible alert when the product is nearing the end of its seven-year life, or the battery needs changing.

Battery Operated for Continuous MonitoringFor added convenience, the Nighthawk 900-0235 also has a battery backup, which means you won't have to worry about power outages. Unlike many A/C units, the Nighthawk will monitor continuously without interruptions. And because it has a seven-year product life, it's able to provide protection up to 40 percent longer than other units.

User-Friendly, Protective FeaturesFor added peace of mind, the Nighthawk 900-0235 has a test/reset button that allows you to verify that the alarm is functioning properly, and a tamper-resistant feature that works by putting the unit into constant alarm mode if it has been unplugged or has come loose from the outlet. A red LED illuminates when in alarm mode and a green LED lets you know A/C power is present and the unit is operating normally.

Compliancy and Warranty InformationThe Nighthawk 900-0235 is UL listed and is backed by a seven-year limited warranty.

Costumer Reviews

The tamper resistant feature is nice, if you have kids, but who reads the manual first?

I figured it to be "plug and play" but after I installed the battery and did NOT plug it into a wall outlet, the alarm went off like it was doomsday. First gut reaction was, it's detecting CO in the house!? Second gut reaction, too big of a coincidence. So I returned it and got a replacement. This time I put in the battery and luckily plugged it in before the two minute countdown. Unknown to me, as soon as you insert the backup battery you have 2 minutes to plug the unit in a wall outlet before the alarm goes off.

Late in the evening, after plugging it in, I wanted to put it in another room and all "heck" broke loose (85db) before I figured out that the little switch on the back had to be pressed before it would stop and NOT the big test button on the front. Another note I would like to point out... it sounds identical to a fire alarm. Personally, I wished it would have it's own unique sound so there would be no confusion whether it's a fire in the house or the Nighthawk detecting Carbon Monoxide. All in all, the detector seems solid although the test button is "funky." Consumer Research gave it very good ratings and the lil green light tells me it on - so I'm confident about this purchase.

Note: I'm good at hooking up home theater systems and calibrating HDTVs without referring back to the manual. So plugging in this CO detector turned into a lesson of humility for me. So please read the manual first.

As I replaced my smoke detectors I thought it would be wise to replace my co2 detectors as well. I found the 900-0235 to be a good value and easy to set-up. I have 3 plugged in and after 2 weeks and am pleased. Does not get any more dull than this which is exactly what I expect with a product like this.
